Exterior painting and house painters in Cheltenham
Weather in Gloucestershire is hard on paintwork. We clean, repair and prime before painting render, brick, timber cladding, windows and doors, so the finish looks sharp and lasts.
What’s included
- Rendered and masonry walls
- Timber weatherboarding and cladding
- Sash and casement windows, frames and sills
- Front doors, garage doors and barn doors
- Fascias, soffits and bargeboards
- Timber-framed and period elevations
- Garden rooms, outbuildings and garages
- Scaffold or access towers arranged where needed
Exterior paint is protection, not just colour
Flaking paint lets water into render and timber, and that is where expensive repairs start. Before we paint, we wash down surfaces, scrape and sand loose material, fill cracks and treat bare timber with the right primer. Only then do the finish coats go on, using exterior-grade paints suited to each surface.
We plan outdoor work around the weather and will not paint onto damp surfaces or in conditions that would spoil the finish.
From farmhouses to townhouses
Our exterior projects range from a black-stained weatherboard barn and a timber-framed barn with limewash-style infill panels, to a Georgian townhouse with painted sash windows and a rendered family house repainted from top to bottom. Each one needed a different set of materials and a different order of work.
For listed buildings and properties in conservation areas, such as parts of Prestbury and central Cheltenham, it is worth checking with the council before changing an exterior colour. We are happy to talk this through with you.

FAQ
Exterior painting: common questions
When is the best time of year for exterior painting?
Late spring to early autumn is usually best, when surfaces are dry and temperatures are mild. We keep an eye on the forecast and adjust the schedule so paint is never applied in poor conditions.
Do you paint render and pebbledash?
Yes. We clean and repair the surface first, then use a masonry paint suited to the substrate so it can breathe and stand up to the weather.
Can you paint uPVC or only timber windows?
Most of our window work is on timber frames and sashes. Tell us what you have and we will advise honestly whether painting is the right option.
Do you need scaffolding?
Many houses can be done with ladders and access towers. For taller elevations we arrange scaffolding and include it clearly in the quote.
